If you have both XP and Windows 7 computers on your home or small business (peer to peer) network, you may have run into problems when you try to map a drive from the Windows 7 computer to the XP computer. Specifically, when you browse for a shared folder from the Windows 7 computer, you might get a message that says "You do not have permission to access" (path to XP computer). You might be prompted for a username and password, and you get a logon failure even when you put in the correct credentials.

The solution is to setup the Windows 7 login account as a user account on the XP computer and add it to the Administrators group there. To do that, follow these steps on the XP machine:

1. Right click My Computer and click Manage.
2. In the left pane, expand Local Users and Groups.
3. Click the Users folder.
4. In the right pane, click an empty space and select New User.
5. Create the account with the Windows 7 user name and password (uncheck "User must change password at next logon" and check "Password never expires").
6. Reboot the XP computer.
7. Now you should be able to browse to and map specific folders on the XP machine from the Windows 7 machine and entering these credentials.

Question:  Is Windows 7 for You?
Answer:  Only if you are buying a new Quad computer with 4 Gigabytes of memory (or more).

Question:  Should you install Windows 7 onto an older computer?
Answer:  BarryZ doesn't recommend it.  You WILL have problems locating 64-bit Device Drivers for your hardware & programs that ran OK under XP and Vista (which are 32-bit operating systems).

Windows 7:  Before you buy

The Email software in Windows 7 is called Windows Live Mail.
Windows Live Mail is a "client" that saves the emails on your computer.
Windows Live Mail replaces the older Outlook Express distributed on Windows ME and XP, and also replaces Windows Mail distributed with Windows Vista.

Windows Live Mail can handle multiple email accounts.

When buying a new computer with Windows 7 on it, choose to install Windows Live Mail.  It is not installed by default.

After it's installed, run the 1USA Dialer Setup software (615 k)
or if you have a Broadband connection (DSL Cablemodem, Satellite, etc) then you just need the 1USA Email Account Setup software (333 k).

If your company as multiple accounts to setup, contact the 1USA Webmasters for a special build which sets your domain as the server name.

Note: It takes only ONE MINUTE to setup an email account with 1USA.
